The purpose of this study was to find the fundamental data on determining the
optimal concentration of fluoride by the season in Korea. The 176 kindergarten children
aged 5-6 years were participated. Of them, 96 students dwell on Kwachon city and the
others Namyangiu city.
The questionnaires about the beverage intake were given to the children's parents and
the answers were analysed by the season and by gender. The all beverages is divided
into the piped water and other beverages.
The obtained results were as follows ;
1. The daily intake of water was 443.5§¢ in the spring, 427.5§¢ in the summer and
427.3§¢ in the winter, but not significant by the season(P>0.05).
2. The daily intake of other beverages was 453.9§¢ in the spring, 487.6§¢ in the
summer and 411.9§¢ in the winter, but not significant by the season(P>0.05).
3. The daily intake of all the beverages was 897.4§¢ in the spring, 915.2§¢ in the
summer and 839.2§¢ in the winter, but not significant by the season(P>0.05).
4. The daily intake of piped water was not significant by gender(P>0.05) and other
beverages, all the beverages significant(P<0.05).
5. It is concluded that it is not necessary to control the fluoride concentration by the
season.
